Im saying they all mislabel them and not many retailers know it. The point of that thread is he was sold a 02J clutch, NOT an 02M. The 180q is the only 5sp 02M. You can believe what you like, but you will be selling people the wrong parts. But i guess you can live with that since you are full of yourself

Sorry to intrude on the conversation and bring the thread off topic, but why does cincyTT always attack Mike whenever they disagree about something. Is there something personal between you two? I appreciate the knowledge that you both posses but it seems like there are more productive and mature ways to communicate (especially from a mod).

It isn't like SB and CM just starting making Clutch kits for the TT. If there was going to be a problem with their kits they would have known by now and I have not heard of one TT owner having a problem with a SB or CM clutch kit they bought. If any of my customers ends up with a wrong part I get it replaced asap at no charge to the customer, most of the time it just ends up being the wrong stage kit that was shipped out and the company that shipped it sends the new parts out that same day.

I am full of my self? LOL, I just offer to help save people money. Not exactly how that makes me full of myself. Its not like I sit here and delete posts when I dont like what the person is saying.

So to hijack my own thread back I ended up going with a Spec stage II clutch. A local shop I've gotten work from before is installing it. The part was $547 and labor is $927 with my mil discount. I just don't have the time to install this clutch myself, and the cost is much less than I expected, so I reckon I'm happy. Thanks for the input on this one.

Feel free to come back and post your impressions of the new clutch. Nice to add to the knowledge base once in a while instead of getting these 'my dick is bigger than yours' arguements.

Definitely. I'm scheduled to get it installed next Thursday, so I'll post up a review of the shop and the clutch once it's installed. I was curious, however, about something else. Part of the labor rate is to take out the stock flywheel and resurface it. Since it's being pulled anyway, I'm wondering if it'd be worth going with a lighter weight flywheel. Does anyone have experience with a lighter flywheel?

The stock ones are HEAVY. They're dual-mass, meaning 2 plates with springs between them to help absorb engine vibrations.

** Actually, while doing a quick search to see if I could come up with a weight (27ish lbs), I found this little description..

The crankshaft pulley vibration absorber is there to protect the crankshaft from excessive stress due to torsional oscillation, and is specified as a reliability enhancement.

The dual mass flywheel is there to reduce torsional oscillation of the whole drivetrain, and is specified primarily as a noise, vibration, and harshness countermeasure.
With that said, for driveability, you could probably go to a single mass (steel) flywheel, it'll be lighter, but not too light, and would probably pair well with your stage 1ish clutch pretty well.

Just got my car back today. I'm really happy with the new hardware, especially the lightened flywheel. Clutch pedal pressure has been reduced substantially, and the the flywheel is great. Very, very light chatter, and the engine response is fantastic. Definitely recommend a Spec Stage 2 clutch and Spec 18lb steel flywheel. I'm happy
