Default muffler

im just contemplating the worst case scenario.

i got 10' 3inch stainless steel piping, 3" cat, 3" glasspack resonator.

the idea is to go no muffler dual tip. BUT if it is too loud what is a muffler choice for a fair price.

im thinking of running the muffler inline with the glasspack in the center of the car. ie DP>cat> glass pack> single 3"inlet & 2 3"outlet style muffler then again out to the dual tips.

Most 1 into 2 mufflers go into 2.5" and will be more than enough. Not sure if you will have the room for that square of a muffler. You may need to run 2 small mufflers on each Y or put one good muffler before the Y. Borla and Magnaflow are the best with Magnaflow being cheaper

I wouldn't do it. I don't think it's going to sound good with a high reving 1.8L.

yea i was lookin for a borla but could only fin d 2.5"

im not a real fan of magnaflow but, if that is the only one with the 3" inlet i may have to swallow my pride and settle.

i was contemplating a mufler on each side of the Y, im not a huge fan of the drifter style mufflers sticking out the tail but was lookin at a few inline borlas that might fit in the back where the stock muffler goes.

... the thought just struck me but... would it be worth adapting the stock 225 muffler to have 3" in/outs?

thanks for the opinion BUT sound is all relative to taste.

i honestly just want it to be quiet cruising and at 120-140km/hr.

im hoping the cat will kill most of the sound and then the resonator will pick up the slack but... as stated worst case scenario.

Nate, you think it wont backfire too much if the pipes are reduced from 3"ID to 2.5"ID ... i would have to run 3" ID again after the muffler.

Math is your friend. The total area of 2 2.5" is way more than a single 3". Not to mention the backfiring would depend on richness and having a cat or not.

Hey myslow...your sig is that a tib? I saw one of these going down I90 in Seattle on my way home. I thought it was a tib sure looked like one but it had that "T" symbol on it and had some word on the other side that started with a "T" with a red "GT" emblem next to that...I believe. There was no"H"hyundia symbol on it at all.It was raining pretty hard out (imagine that in Seattle) so it was very hard to read. I just took it as someone rebadged the car.
