Default My oldest baby...

I know that this is off-topic, but thought I might share a pic of this. I've had it for almost 14 years. I plan on starting a restoration of it soon. It's a gas job from the factory. I put a 1.8 JH solid lifter engine in it back in 1998 and it has a GTI Mk I close-ratio 5-speed in it with a .71 top gear for highway cruising.

I plan on stroking it out to 2.0 if I can find a crank for it. Techtonics used to have a stroker kit for the JH blocks, but that seems to be discontinued. I want to turbo-charge it if possible. I'd love to find one of the old Scirocco turbo kits for it. Otherwise I might touch base with Arnold at PAG Parts to see if he can hook me up.

The body is real straight. Minimal rust.. just a little around the windshield. Anyway... it isn't all Audis with me. I love their cousins too!

Excuse the poor lighting in the pic. I didn't want to dig it out of the garage. I need to start it up though. It's been sitting. I need to fill it up with fresh gas and put air in the tires. The thing I like about it most is that it's a 1980. That was the only year the Pickup came with that nose. I was never a fan of the later Rabbit nose. I think this looks much cleaner.

That was taken at BlownEuros this year. I see what you mean about the nose.
Good luck with your project!

Yeah... pickups are really rare these days and the 1980 model is unheard of. I can't wait to get this truck all done up. Whenever I drive it even in its present condition I get all kinds of stares and people pulling up to me asking what it is. You just don't see these anymore.

Pierce Auto in Bouckville NY has 4-5 trucks out in their yard. I always kinda wanted to try to pick 1 or two or all of them up and have a project. Turns out, the TT is my project, and I have no room/garage anymore. Make due with the car I have I guess. Sigh..
