Need Technician Help.
 

So I have been noticing an ongoing problem with my TT. Only on cold starts, once again, The car will Turnover fine - But when it catches yikes.
I have the AEM C.A.I. so I can hear the air start to be sucked in, then the cars rpms drop to a violent stutter, the boost gauge jumps all over the place and the car almost dies. Following that fun time the turbo spools up Really fast, car backfires and then the exhaust smells awful. First the distinct smell of Oil then gas.

Where should I even begin? Timing? or maybe a clogged fuel filter/injector? Or my biggest fear - Dieing turbo? =/

Any advice is appreciated. Im gonna call some of the Audi Dealers around here and try to find a Good one to scope out the car as well. And ill check out w/e I can in the garage.

check the exhaust pipe just after theturbo hasn't snapped also check for air/vacuum leaks and fault codes

allright ill scope these few things out tomorrow if the weathers nice - Heres the kicker though. Once it does all that - The car runs fine

I would check out the spark plugs and lets know what the scope gives out

May maf cause some of those issues before it died. Try unplugging it and giving it a go. If that seems to cure most or all of it, you have a bad maf and maybe some other things.

Allright so heres a Minor Update - I unplugged the MAF (Cold night tonight) and figured it would be the best time to test it.
I started the car and good lord...it Really Really wanted to stall..and it sounded like something was opening and closing (Almost sounding identical to a backfire) sound in the engine compartment. It couldnt keep an idle for a good 30 seconds and kept making the popping sound and smelt of unburned gas. As far as I can tell there is no boost leaks or misfiring. The exhaust however is now starting to smell pretty bad - Honestly like a warm sewer.
Im gonna pull the plugs tomorrow and see what they look like - check the oil and filter and take a whiff of the coolant to see if maybe I have a head gasket leak.

Im still putting my bet, sadly, on the turbo dieing. This turbo in my car has done some Incredibly goofy stuff to me ever since I bought it. I remember one day I had just backed out of my driveway and put it into 1st and went to take off - the car would Accelerate, then practically start to buck like someone learning to drive standard. Did that to me all the way up my road then just stopped.

Ill also check from my air filter/Tube/MAF/Turbo/Turbo Pipe/SMIC/Intake Hose/Intake Manifold for anything that seems odd. I've gotta figure this problem out.

if the smell from the exhaust is like rotten eggs then chances are its the catalyst and that failing causes this problem

any good replacements out there for our cars that are direct replacement or even high flows? I noticed that our cars come w/ dual cats - the cars ive dealt with are usually just single cats.

I use eurocarparts but that's in the UK perhaps some one over there would know a good place

Another update - I don't think the cat is the culprit in this chaos. Sure the car smells a little funny...But I started it today and it ran like a Champ. Only when it's Cold outside does the car act goofy on startups. Where is the cold start injector located on the intake manifold? Im gonna pop that out and check for clogs or debris in the injectors. Also what are a few items that are initiated in a Start up/cold start that I should look at. My Plugs and Coils are brand new from ECStuning so I would hope they're not malfunctioning. I hear the air pump kick on on inital startups and kick off after a few seconds - But - The suction through the CAI sounds a bit shakey.

I tipped my ear near where the turbo is on the car as well...and to Me it sounds awfully noisy. Not crunchy but sorta....hmm..Muffled marbles clanging I suppose? Sigh...dammit car just work >.<

While I sit here and ponder guess ill go read some info on wastegates/turbos/ and noises that could prove bad.
