Do you have any idea about how long this should take? - Myself (I'm decent with this sorta stuff) and 2 mechanics.

- The special tool... thats all I'm concerned about ...we are going to be doing this at my home. - Do you know or have any idea whre I can buy it? - Or do you think they'll have it?

it can be time consuming regardless of how many mechanics are on the job ( too many cooks sort of thing when only 1 is required ), I would give you 2 hours tops but not a difficult job,

edit: the data I show is by the book but we all know how to cut corners making the job easier

We plan on drinking alot of beer while working.... I just figure 3 heads are better than one. - We're mostly accustomed to working on old *** cars without computers...etc... Just hope we dont screw things up! ..haha.

This is why I dig this board the most of the VW/Audi sites. People actually take the time to help each other and provide their knowledge so that other people can learn how to help themselves. Very cool.

So we get the alternator out and everything appears to be going smoothly to low and behold find the guy sent me the wrong freaking replacement alternator...arg!

I'm getting mine rebuilt today... only $60 for parts and labor... JOY!

however this is and was a VERY simple project. - I could have done it myself and I have Minimal experiance with mechanics.

Thank you so much for the directions!

The link was to remove the alternator mount.
Here's a write up.
FYI: That link is for a 225.

I believe he has a 180FWD like me.

I'll look around for another link.

Oh, so you mean the only difference is this write up is that he has one less thing to remove? Thanks for pointing that out!
