Default New exhaust question

Hey everybody. I currently am running a 3" downpipe with a test pipe. I really want to go back to using a cat. I just purchased the borla cat back system for my car (180, FWD) which is 2.5" instead of three. I was wondering what your suggestions would be. Should I go back to using my stock downpipe that has my cat attatched? I really didnt want the 3" downpipe but somebody talked me into it. I will trade somebody the 3" for the 2.5"? I know that would be hard to find somebody who would want to do that.

Anyway, my questions are:

Should i go back to stock downpipe? If so, how do i connect stock size piping to the 2.5" catback?

should i keep the 3 inch downpipe and mod my cat to a 3" to 2.5" cat? If so, would this be too loud? I really dont want the exhaust to be overly loud. Just a good rumble.

Should I save up and buy a 2.5 inch downpipe or try to find somebody who wants to trade, and then buy a 2.5" cat to go along? This is probably the best (and most expensive) option.. i just dont know if it would be too loud or not.

Any additional comments would help. Thanks so much.

THe 3" will be fine with a 2.5" catback. There are plenty of people running them. You have 2 options, take your stock cat and get it cut to fit the dp and cat (several have done this). Your other option is a 42dd cat that is made to fit what you have ($125).

The catback will be quiter because it is a 2.5".

not with a 2.5" w/resinator and cat. It will be louder than stock, but your not going todrive younuts with the noise.

but i mean with the 3 inch downpipe. I beleive you told me it adds noise volume, but doesnt really change the noise.

How much should it cost me to get my cat fab'd. I found I guy that can do it for me around here (its good to live in the nascar capitol of the world) because all thee shop guys open up their own on the side of working for nascar.

Anyway, you suggest that that is the way to go? 3" DP, to stock fab'd cat, to resonator, to borla muffler.

Just want to make sure.
