Default new guy asking for help!

Hey guys,

I recently purchased a 2002 Audi TT 180hp Silver Coupe Quattro. When I first purchased it I noticed a hose to the turbo was off. After I reapplied the hose the turbo worked fine. However, on my long drive back from Florida to Michigan I noticed my TT no longer was producing turbo, as well as the gas being cut out whenever I attempted to accelrate. Long story short, I have a beautifull TT with no turbo. The dealership just told me today that "I will need my turbo replaced for $1300 and 8 hours of labor, because a rod in the turbo is siezed". I hear you can get stock turbos for pretty cheap offline, I am also wondering if it is worth it to just upgrade the turbo? Any links, advice, or words of wisdom you have for your turbo-less tt brethern would be much appreciated!

If it was purchased from a car dealer within a month or two most states have lemon laws and they shouldbe obligatedto fix it for you.

Your story is bad enough. Spending an additional $2000 + on your stock turbo would be tragic. My vote: Upgrade.

I shopped around and I found a vastperformance that would be willing to put in a new turbo kit + instalation for around $3000. Here is the link to the turbo I think they are talking about http://vastperformance.com/shop/prod...bc41f4c25c9ff4

Is there any other additional work that will need to be done? Let me know what you guys think.

That is a S4 upgrade to RS4 turbos. THat isnt what they are talking about. THey may of said ko4 and that can mean 2 things. Ko4-001 which is basically a ko3s in 01+ cars or a ko4-22 that is in the 225TT. BTW, there is not rod in the turbo, just a shaft, bearingsand wheels. Just get a used ko3s on vwvortex for $150-200 and you are good. If you cant do the install yourself, find a indy shop that will do it for you. Shouldnt be more than $500 for the install. I would find a friend that can help you. Its really not a hard task.

Thanks. Is it worth it to get a k04-22 for a former 180t or is there a better turbo upgrade kit that will cost under 2 grand for all but the installation?

Your not going to get a upgrade for $2k, sorry. Unless you get used 225 parts, your not going to get that done either.
