Default New Guy Question about APR and my 225TT

Hey guys, I got my TT about 6 weeks ago, and ive been browing this forum since. Finally decided to post a question.

I just moved to Alabama for a 6 week school in the military and just so happen to be about 50 miles from APR. Ive been reading for a while now about the ecu upgrade, and feel like i should get it.

2002 TT 225 Coupe.

1. Is it really worth it... and if the answer is yes, why do you say its worth it?
2. I talked to Kieth at APR and he says becuase the diverter valve is a 225 model its strong enough and I wont need to upgrade to a forge DV. ive never read this once in this forum. Is he right?

Thanks guys for any help.

Chad

Getting chipped in general is a good idea, you're optimizing your engine, and a byproduct of that is horsepower : )

Don't know on the DV question, I don't have a 225...

I think almost everyone on here who has a 225TT with a chip has had to replace their diverter valve, I know I have. I had my car APR chipped, two months later my diverter went then my MAFO went.

if u chip it you'll need a new dv (007 forge is working good so far) 135 from ttstuff.com and a new turbo intake hose (150) from ecodetuning.com shipped! the stock hose can collapse and restrict air flow

Yes your 225 diverter valve is plenty strong for a chip. All the A4 guys including myself are running the 710n (225tt) diverter valve with our chips.

Glad I read this.. I was about to order one as my first mod, besides the K&N...

Any tuners in the Oklahoma area? I just got the car a couple days ago and will do a chip upgrade, but would like to find someplace close so I don't have to ship the ECU.
