New Here Looking To Buy A Audi TT
Hello everyone! im new over here at audi forums, jsut to give you some background information on myself, i am 17 years of age and live in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, i am currently the proud owner of a Cobalt SS (Pics Below)and avid poster on cobaltss.net. unfortuinatly my car was purchased under the confines of a lease and sadly i will be getting screwed at the end
. this had lead me to find somone for a lease takeover and purchase a new vehicle. i was looking for power and luxury and i found it in the Audi TT. I plan to purchase a 1999-2003 TT for under 18,000.
I have a few questions such as are there any well known problems with the TT's? and is there anything i should look out for with high mileage ones (replacing turbo so forth).
im looking forward to meeting all of you and purchasing a TT in the near future!
now for the pics of my 2007 Cobalt SS 2.4L LE5 VVT

The turbo does NOT routinely fail at high mileage like S4's and such.

Yeah... you need to watch for the instrument clusters. They fail and are expensive to replace. The timing belt issue is also to be considered when buying a car with some miles on it. They should be done at 60k miles or not much more after that. You don't have any piston to valve clearance on the engine so it is a disaster if the belt/tensioner fails.
1999 are Europe only numbers - Are the remaining years World Wide Production?
I just went through the timing belt change ect. I would highly recommend that you buy one with the change. It was an all day event for me to Change the belt. The motor needs to be lifted on the passenger side at least one one inch to get the old belt and exchange with the new. While there I changed the tensior and water pump. I got these items at Rockauto.com at very reasonable prices. I also changed the alternator belt and tensioner. The nearest shop wanted 750 dollars just for the labor. Mine was at 80 thousand and the belt looked like it was ready to go.
