Its stylish, but personally, I dont think its better than the MkI. Pretty sure it's got the same pedal set as the new Passat too, if that's the case, that's just sad.
It has the same pedal set as the new R8 [&:]

To be honest I wasn't too impressed with the new TT from pictures...then I saw it in person and sat in it. Audi did an excellent job of sprucing up the interior and making it feel more driver-centered and getting the TT away from feeling like a nice GTI.

The pedals retain the TT style as you can see above ^ but the accelerator is now floor mounted like in a 911 as opposed to mounted under the dash like a VW. The shifter is raised up to sitting near where the steering wheel is, which I've come to admire from driving Z32 Nissan 300ZXs and S2000's...really makes the car feel sportier. The nav is tilted towards the driver slightly promoting the cockpit feel even more. The whole interior is just more modern and well thought out.

As for the styling, you really have to see it in person. You'll quickly recognize the classic TT roofline etc. It doesn't stick out quite like the old one did, but it is still really good looking. I tried to capture it in these pics:

All in all it was just what I had hoped for...a modernized MkI.

This is the pedal set I saw on the 08 Passat ad, the page after the article about the Mk II TT in EC, when the MK II TT came out.

Look familiar?

Very seldom (like once in a decade) will you get a car that had the affect that the MK1 (design of the decade or something like that) did so there was no way to match that impression with the MK2 but thats not what you do with a 2nd generation car. You improve on it in small ways. The Z4 did the same with that car by making the lines sharper than the Z3. Thats what Audi did with the TT. And a chipped TT will keep up with the 350Z and Z4 and has a more comfortable interior than them. I almost went for the 350Z but even with that car maxed out in accessories it just didnt match the TT with just a premium package. Plus I think the new front end with its new headligths looks mean compared to the MK1. And the *** of the MK2 is just awesome. All in all its a better car IMO than the MK1 but thats what you want with the next generation.

Also when did the 350z and Z4 not become a dailey driver?

So whats wrong with the passat having the same pedals? They do look good in the TT.

I didn't doubt they ganked the pedals for the Passat...but I don't really think of it as "Passat pedals in a TT" more like "TT pedals in a Passat" ...the TT was the first car to have those kinda pedals. Really is lame that they tack them on as standard ****** on a VW though.

All I said was that they shared the same pedals. But that's not really a big enough point to even bother arguing.

At the same time, you could say that they're virtually the same as the Mk I TT, because they are. The difference is, the Mk. I TT had them for a while, and then they were introduced into other cars. To put the same parts in a Passat, the same year that they hype the release of this new TT. Meh, seems kinda cheap. Wait a year at least before you start adding parts from the 'fancy' cars into the run of the mill models....

Regardless of the pedals though, I'd still take my Mk I over a Mk. II. It may have a stronger engine, and magnetic ride suspension. But first impressions are still based on overall looks, and on looks, my opinion gives it to the Mk. I
