Default new SMIC and muffler delete...

Yep, I finally did it.. I did the muffler delete, cutting it right after the sub-frame so that it still turns down making sure not to melt any of the plastic undercarriage guards. It actually sounds alright. Part of me wants to think that it just sounds like I have a hole in my muffler but I think its all in my head and I was assured by my friend who happens to have a stage 3 B5 S4 that I'm wrong. Its kinda cool, you can hear the turbo spool up a little bit.

I also put in a 225 SMIC. I had put in new headlights a couple weeks back and in the process of doing that I noticed that the top mount for my stock SMIC was broken clean off at the base, maybe a small crack in the SMIC too, hard to tell. Anyway, I picked up a stock one from a 225 that a friend of mine had with only 25k miles on it. Threw that in there, barely I might add. It is possible but its a good thing that its not any bigger than it is because it definitely wouldnt have fit at all. So for all you 180 fwd that didnt know, you CAN use a 225 SMIC.

I can definitely feel the car pull a little harder it seems, and its pretty damn loud now. It almost sounds like a CAI when the turbo kicks in, in the sense that you can hear the car sucking air in pretty damn loud. I am curious though if I should go and have my REVO chip re-tuned since I am running a bit of a bigger SMIC now therefore more air induction.. along with the muffler delete. I also have a forge DV but thats it.....is it worth my time having the shop tune it?? give me your opinions, thanx.

A bigger intercooler, side mount or front mount, doesnt effect the quantity of "air induction". Dont think you need to adjust your tune.

Ok, sorry..not more air induced to the system but it does change some bc if it didn't then ppl wouldn't be buying FMIC etc.

if you are talking about a tune, the ecu can adapt

Yeah, fmic or in your case a bigger side mount > cooler air > denser air > more fuel > more power. Or atleast not a loss in power due to heat soak

I have noticed that since the night I put it on it has gotten a bit quieter when the turbo kicks in..assuming that is the ecu adjusting?

Umm maybe im confused but isnt a 180 intercooler the same as the ones on the 225, granted the 225 has two I understand that but I was under the assumtion that they were the same size.
