Default newbi questions (yes i did)

OK, there is NFW I am paying that for a bolt on arm rest...can someone post a pic of what it looks like installed?

Also, this "Chip" that everyone speaks of...where does it install? How can I tell if one has already been installed in my TT before I order one etc...Pic or instructions with a pic?

I think you can find pics of the arm rest from any of the website that sell them like TTstuff.com

Sorry pushed "ok" instead of preview...

Anyway, as far as the chip goes. Mostly what everyone else is talking about is an ECU upgrade.
The ECU is already in your car. I believe it contains fuel maps... Anyway when you "chip" your car what you're doing is installing a program (or several programs) onto the ECU.
What this does is bring out the optimal performance for that car in that fuel grade. Increase in HP is much higher on turbo cars (our TT's) and this is mostly why people go ahead and do this.
There are several different companies that will "chip" your car.
APR
Giac
Revo
I think those are the major ones...
Normally you would make an appointment with one of these shops (which ever is local, or the one of your choice) and they can use the direct port and install the program onto your ecu.
If you wanted more then one program (at least with APR) a larger ECU is needed and the shop solders it in place.
Some programs that I'm aware of are the 93 Octane, and 100 Octane, Stock, and Valet mode.

I'm sure some of these other guys can elaborate more on this for you.

I found a few pics, but not a decent angle that will showme how they mount etc... No biggie..

I really am not a fan of shipping my ECU out of state for a flash, that REVO concept seems interesting..But $500 for a flash? That seems high compared to what the vette or dsl guys are paying?

or you can be cheap (like me) and use the diode method as a good starter.

Diode 4.3v is about $0.20
Mbc on ebay $20-50
Boost gauge $30-100

you can easily get you car run 16-17psi daily without buying a chip. I do it everyday until i can replace the dead gt28r i have sitting in the garage.

But will that account for any timiong changes? I mean, the chip/flash works on advance curves also yes?

they do a little but if you can get a hold of a vag cable you can add some timing through lemminwinks also.

Ahh, I have heard of this Lemmiwinks, I must go forth and learn more.. I will get the armrest when I pay off this car, low on the priority list. I wish someone made that leg rest/ dash support without the part that hits my leg...

Are you going to run hand made turbo tube setup to run that Garrett?

i had one special made by boostfactory (boostfactory.net).

but the diode method is a great and cheap way to get some more power out of you car. Plus you car run aboutthe same psi thatmost people here run that are to scared to up it further (you know who you are...lol).
