Default Noob with Question

I have just picked up a 2002 TT. Is the extended warranty option a good idea. It will cost about $1900 with a $100 deductable. It covers pretty much everything. 3 year or 36,000 miles.

Thanks to you all.

Yes any extended warrenty on a Audi is a good idea. Unless you do work yourself. How many miles on the TT? 180 or 225?

Ok, I am really stupid about this. How do you tell. The dealer thinks it is a 225hp version (not an Audi dealer)

Transmission Type?

Number of Exhaust tips?

On your engine cover... where the oil cap is, is the cap location countersunk into the engine cover and if so, is it U shaped or just a circle?

6 gears, dual exhaust with turbo = 225
5 Gears, single exhaust tip = 180

5 speed, so it is the 180. It has 60,000 miles so we planned on the timing belt and the 60,000 service from Audi for about $270. Not sure if that includes the belt or not.

Thanks all.

so the 180 doesn't have a turbo? hmm always thought that spooling noise was the turbo. maybe its the squeeking of the hamster wheel thats giving me the extra "getup and go"

the 60k service does not include the timing belt chain.

the timing belt change is voluntary and will run close to $1500 at an Audidealer.

You should try to negotiate the price if the dealer told you it's a 225 and it's a 180...

If you haven't signed the papers yet, I wouldn't unless it's a good deal.

How much did / are you paying?
