now i smell sulfur? im letting it warm up, and i smell sulfur. i dont get it? did my cat go bad or what? the idle lopes like a sewing machine. when i give it gas, it shutters. ive had it idling for about 1/2 hr. tired to take it for a ride, but didnt get far before turning around.

 

The stuttering sounds like a bad coil pack. $30.00 each at Champion if the counter guy is in a good mood.

 

when i get the code checked, will it tell me which coil is bad?

 

It should tell you what cylinder has a misfire. If you have the $$ I would just replace them all as the others well go bad at another inopportune time. If you want you can check with the service dept. as I think there was a recall at one time. Be sure the new ones are the R model.

 

that sounds good. the guys at champion in pompano have been awesome! i didnt buy the car there, but theyve done a ton of warranty work for me for nothing. if its still under warranty, i think the coil packs may be coverd. are there any better options for replacement (aftermarket)? and how can i tell if they are R models or not.?

 

turns out, it was coil#1. they only replaced 1. i was kinda disappointed that they didnt change all of them.

 

Glad you got it fixed. Did the Champion replace it under warranty? Did you ask them about the recall?

they took care of it under warranty. it still cost me $50 tho. but those guys are good to me. i wish they would stop leaving my f"ing car in gear. pisses me off to no end. lurching in the parking lot (almost bumped an S5). it is an R model coil. im glad it didnt cost me more than that for my first CEL. beach char, what color is your car? im in delray beach. I've never seen another tuned tt.

 

They charged you $50 for a $30 coil pack under warranty? Oh well, at least it's fixed. Getting out of Champion for $50 is a victory. I drive a Black Roadster with OZ Wheels, Dark Tint, APR Badge and a few other subtle modifications.
