Default Oh no!!!

Well, I just got back from the Audi service dept. in Concord, CA.

And it turns out that the stutter that I had some time ago is actually worse than initially thought.

I need a new transmission...luckily for me, I purchased an extened warranty through the dealer thatI got the car from. So, the new development is that the dealer who sold me the car, wants to find a place that has cheaper parts...WTF??? The advisor at the service dept. says that she wants to push OEM parts...I said ABSOLUTELY!!! I would prefer nothing but Audi parts...especially in the f-ing tranny...plus their parts are warrantied anyways...so then if cheaper parts get installed...what the hell happens when my tranny blows up again in 2 years?? In all the cars that I have purchased, I have NEVER had to replace a tranny...this car is only 5 years old with 33,000 miles...

This really sucks...maybe I shoulda bought something else...damn it.

You have fwd so you have a fwd tip tranny. Those things are cheap and plentiful. They are in all the fwd transverse cars and i believe some others so finding and paying for one shouldnt be to hard.

I have the Auto-tiptronic transmission...so I dunno...when they took a sample of the tranny fluid it was burnt and blackend...so the previous owner musta pushed this car hard or something.

I have the Auto-tiptronic transmission...
Now would be a good time to switch If you don't like auto at least. I wonder just how hard an auto > manual conversion is. Probably doable.

Btw I saw 02J's on eBay for $1k.

FOr a swap you would need the tranny, mounts, ecu, and interior among other minor things. Those kind of swaps are pricey. The only swaps a TT should see are the turboed VR6 3.2 in a 180/225q car and the infomous 2.7T (but i still rather go easier with the 3.2)

I dont mind the auto tiptronic, the frustrating part is that they might not put OEM parts in the damn thing...plus its gonna be a re-manned tranny from the factory if they go OEM. I just hope Im not repairing this thing 2 years down the road.

there is only oem trannys and high end upgrades. Just go to the junkyard and get one for about $400-600. You just need a 1.8t or 2.0 jetta, golf, gti, or TT tip tranny. They are in huge supply
