Default oHPP- Rear Diff Issues?

Hey so I was looking into a Haldex control unit (orange) and I just had one question: if the Haldex system is originally set up to perform with 80% power to the front and 20% power to the rear, wouldn't a Haldex unit that split the power 50:50 put a much larger strain on the rear diff than it was designed to take? It seems like putting an amount of power that is 2 and 1/2 times that of the stock load on the rear diff could really cause some catastrophic issues to your car. Does anyone know if the rear diff is capable of transferring that type of power without any long term effects?

Theres no issue with it, I've been running the blue controller for 20,000 miles. I'm debating whether or not the extra work on the rear has shorted the life of my haldex clutch, but the diff is fine.

BTW, you know the orange controller is probably overkill for street use? Blue does the same split, but releases the rear end during braking, kind of a perk in slick conditions.

Yeah, I actively do DEs at Texas World Speedway in College Station, Texas. I've kind of stopped doing autocrosses because I just don't like having to go out for 6 hours and getting all of 6 minutes of driving time. I would prefer to get the orange because of the fact that I do race on a common basis, but I have been leaning more and more towards blue as a "starter" because it just seems more sensible if I am going to have to get used to a new feel "driving-wise" and I only race once per month (if not every other month). I'm in the blue "run-group" at the track, so until I get into a higher group, I think that blue seems like a reasonable option.

Also, as of now I have about $900-$1000, and I am planning on working a few upcoming DEs which will give me $180 each weekend that I work (my only source of income because I am a student). Should I save up for the PSS9s that I was planning on buying after working the DEs, or does the Haldex controller make enough of a difference as to justify buying it now with the money that I have?

I bought mine because my stock controller was faulty, if i was doing suspension or haldex, I'd go suspension first.

God I just HATE having to save up and wait [:@] it sucks. But yeah I agree that suspension will probably give me the most bang for the buck as a first "real" upgrade (because my dad won't let me get a chip... [:'(]).

Consider the diode mod in place of the chip?

I have a pile of diodes if you want one, you'll just have to wait for me to go home to NY to get my stuff when I move it to VT. Shouldn't be more than 2 weeks.

Yeah absolutely. To be completely honest, I have no idea what it does, nor have I researched it but I would love one despite my lack of knowledge on it haha. It's like a "zener diode mod" or something like that? How much do you want ontop of shipping? Just PM me

PM me an address, and I'll try to send it when i get home.

im terrible at remembering crap though, so be patient with me, i still have beer I need to send out to someone and he's been waiting a while.

I'll just give you a diode though, you can get them on ebay, 25 for $5.00, probably is, I don't need 25, so theres a crapload I have no use for. Which do you have, 180 or 225, the diodes are different, put that in your PM too...
