Oil catch can
 

Has anyone done this? i was told it might be a good idea as i had oil coming out of my mbc when i was testing it out.

Does anyone know of a how to for this mod??

i did a thread about one a long time ago. You can either use a air compressor filter or a actual catch can. Depending on which engine you have, you just basically route the crankcase breather and head breather to the can and then back to the intake. The ATC has both joined together so i only had to run one line and no T.

my somewhat more intensive/expensive solution.

Upper hose wasn't attached yet for this pic, but the upper hose attached to an aluminum AN fitting I welded to the valve cover. Lower hose attached to an 034 block breather adapter.

For this setup, you yank out all the original PCV stuff.

Was $20 for the block breather adapter
$10 for the breather adapter to -10 AN adapter
$9 each for hose ends (need 4)
$6 each for AN weld in bungs (need 3)

I welded up my own can, stuffed it with stainless scouring pads ($3), added a K&N breather filter ($20), and it didn't cost me anything for the SS braided hose.

Oh, since I pulled the valve cover to weld the fitting, I replaced the valve cover gasket. ($30?)


You can just straight up buy catch cans and fit them in place with rubber hose and it costs you roughly the same as my setup. Think mine is a little cooler looking though.

If you just do the above with rubber hose, its fairly cheap, just need a nice can like Matt has. His is vta, where the stock setup is returned back to the intake for emissions reasons.

I do like that you ran the bottom hose all the way instead of trying to tie it into all that oem brittle hose and plastic pipe.

this was the headache I removed when I installed the lower line.

You need to run a hose off the block breather and the valve cover, and then either vent or run the blow-by into the TIP (like stock) :)

is there a write-up anywhere?
I'm getting chipped soon and I wanna get this done before that.

Again, theres a couple different ways to do it. How involved to you want to get?

Pretty easy to put a filter into the stock system, a little more involved to pull all the PCV stuff.
