Default Oil change 225 tt

Well i finally got arounf to changing the oil....and i Will say after the debate over through the top or bottom.... DEFINATELY easier through the bottom lol.... Im not sure where you pulled the filter through the top at....Cuase i looked everywhere. But, i losened the filter...let it drain off excess then let it sit on the intercoler pipe then slide it down towards the driver side and pulled it out between the pipe and fan shroud...just had to push the hose back a tad but came right out.... Took me about 15 minutes from dropping the plastic panel to start up. Thank god i bought an extra quart...ive never had a 4 cylinder that took more then 4 quarts but i gues the 5th is a precaution since the turbo needs it.

What are the benefits of having the extra oil? Does the filter cost any more?

all you need is the filter, it cost about the same (maybe a dollar more), and you reduce the chance of sludge, and the oil will run far cooler. The only downside is its harder to get threaded and cost of additional oil.

Why just the summer months? It's kinda a moot point for me since I garage it during the winter and drive my A4, but does it have something to do with cold weather oil flow? That's the only thing I could imagine, and if one is running the recommended 0W-40W synthetic I cannot see where there would be flow problems.

i do it just in thehot monthscause its hotter, roads are nicer and i run it much harder. Just gives it more time to cool before getting cycled again.

i have a 180 also, i jsut like having the extra oil. You dont really need to,if you race or push it hard you may want to think about it though.
