Default oil cooler in the old SMIC location

I could have sworn I saw someone post something on here about puttingan oil cooler in the SMIC location while doing the FMIC.

What im really looking for is something else that was mentioned in the same post. Something about an oil system component from a Passat being put in the TT to increase the capacity and help further cool the oil faster. I've searched here and VWvortex and I swear it was cincyTT that poasted it, but cannot find it.

So... anyone have a link to upgraded oil coolers and/or this passat thing?

cincy is an advocate of using a larger oil filter to add an extra quart to the total capacity.

maybe thats what it was... that'd be a huge filter to add a whole quart

Oil filter, larger capacity.

*EDIT*:

[ul][*]Better oil cooling – to the passenger side of old intercooler place I’m planning to place oilcooler because now it is under the car and I’m afraid to hurt it if I hit something on the road and it doesn’t seem to cool it enough -once you get a fmic you can use the side vent for a oilcooler to get air. You can also make life easier and just run a passat/a4 large oil filter. The car can then hold ~6qrts of oil. This would let it cool more then ~5. [/ul]

I am thinking of doing the oil cooler also.... been on my "to do list" for awhile but always seems there is something better to buy for the TT.

It is, i have one in right now in fact (only do it in the hotter times of year). Kind of a pain to get in ther but it fits and holds ~6qrts. That will give the oil far more time to cool and should even give you about another 1k miles before the next oil change.
