Default Oil light keeps coming on!

Hey guys I have a little bit of a problem that is driving me insane. My oil light has been blinking and beeping a lot recently. I just had my water pump, timing belt, thermostat, and oil changed recently so I'm trying to rule those out. It only seems to beep whenever I downshift or brake, or when I am completely stopped. Also, my thermostat guage ( Or it might be the oil gauge) seems to be on 0 C whenever the light starts to beep. I have no clue what it could be so I would appreciate any imput you have before I waste money trying to get it fixed! Thank you!

Default Oil light keeps coming on! UPDATE

I looked into the other forums and noticed that these problems could be a result of sludge, but I'm pretty sure I ruled that out because a quick look under the oil cap showed only clear passageways. I also forgot to mention that I have a 2000 Audi TT quattro, with around 71,000 miles on it. The light is red and started coming on about two weeks ago, right after a long road trip to Canada. We dohave a stripped threads in our oilpan, and my mechanic put an oversized bolt in to save a few dollars. Thanks for your time;Any imput would be greatly appreciated.

Ive come across the same problem.

I dont think it could be oil sludge, most of the time the sludge problem is based on the oil pick up tube.
Its prone to A4 1.8T's, they have a smaller pick up tube.

I had my oil pan taken off after a head problem, and it was clean my car has double your mileaage at that.
I would blame any one of the sensors in conjunction with the oil system.

hope this helps.

Most cases its the sensor on a transverse car. You dont get a warning for sludge, it just kills the car with the light blinking. But like said, it is a long shot for a TT to get sludge.

Theres a sensor on your oil pan, check and make sure thats tight for starters, I've had it come loose once.

Hi, I'm new here! I have a 2000 Audi TT Quattro that I've had for about 7 years. About 2 weeks ago my oil light came on briefly. I stopped immediately and checked my oil, it was fine. Took my car to the mechanic, the light did not come on for him, oil pressure checked out fine. He did some research and saw all the talk in the forums about oil sludge and assumes that is what the problem is but from what I've read in the forums this does not usually happen in the TT. He told me to sell the car because this would be very costly. Any suggestions on what could be the problem?
