Default overheating

i need help quick! I have to drive to Chicago for work tonight (2.5 hours) and my car is over heating. If im driving according to my gauge im ok, but if i stop for 2 seconds it goes up quite a bit in a matter of 30 seconds. Im no expert but i think thats a little quick. I have coolant and my fan kicks on. Anyone think this could be my cts failing? I went to audi but they said they would charge 90 bucks to see if that was the problem. 90 bucks? i told him that was a little pricey and he said its cheaper than a new engine. I about jumped over the counter and broke his nose!!

anyway i need help super fast i need to leave for Chicago in a couple of hours. Im about to go buy a cts and replace it and hope thats the problem or im screwed.

Its a $30 part and a simple install. Much easier than paying them $90 to tell you yes or no. Cant see what else it could be since the fans are kicking in and there is coolent

the black one is the one with issues. it is replaced with the green one. The blue ones seem to be fine (just in the 2000 ATC cars afaik) and i believe replaced with blue or dark green
