Default Own3d! Now with Pics!

Well I got into a wreck tonight. I'm ok, just got a headache from the smoke of the airbag. I was pulling out of a side exit of a gas station near a intersection trying to go southbound on the road. Traffic was backed up a little in the lane headed northbound. (this is a 3 lane road with 1 lane north, 1 south and 1 for turning) A guy in a minivan stopped and left a gap for me to proceed to the southbound lane. He checked traffic for me that I couldn't see and waved me out but he failed to check traffic coming from behind in the turn lane. I creeped out to where I could personally see any traffic coming from the north and the front end of my TT was sticking out into the turn lane. As soon as I turned my head to check traffic coming towards me from the south there is an old lady hauling butt down the center turning lane trying to beat the turning signal and she slammed right into the front end of my car almost dead center. My reaction to seeing a Crown Vic flying at me was to throw my arms up in front of my head which thinking about it now was a bad idea because if my driver airbag would have went off I probably would have had 2 broken arms. My passenger air bag went off tho. The police found the old lady at fault because of her crossing a double yellow line to get into the turn lane about 30 meters before the lines on the road *said* that you could change into the turn lane.

The Damage is pretty bad, Front bumper, Grill, Radiator, Aluminum Crash bumper, Radiator support, at least one intercooler, at least one headlight. Also Motor wasn't running very well when I attempted to move it, Erratic idle below 1000 RPM. Motor died as soon as I got it in reverse to try to get it out of traffic.

I don't think its totalled, but what do you guys think? Its a 02 225 Coupe with 61k miles. Will have pics of the damage tomorrow when I go to pick up the rental.

Is there something in that dust crap that comes out of airbags? I feel sick ever since the wreck. Like dizzy, headache, and tired. It's weird.

Glad to hear that you're okay... for the most part anyway!

I'm not sure what Audi uses as their "airbag lubricant", but typically it's cornstarch, talcum powder, or chalk. It's fair to say that you could expect some minor throat irritation.

However, I think it'd be in your best interest to have a family member or friend take you to the hospital and get checked out; preferably sooner rather than later.

Get well soon!

Sorry to hear that man, hope all will be well. I've gotten into accidents with old people to, they are usually at fault unless you're driving in the middle of the street intentionally trying to hit other people's cars.

x2, she is going to have to pay for it. You may feel ok now, but give it a couple days and that could change. If there is frame damage, its most likely totalled. With your miles, it shouldnt be totalled if its just body panels and a few other parts
