Default P0304 Misfire problem -- insight please?

Hey guys, before I go digging around I'd just like to make sure I'm thinking straight... I'm registering a P0304 "Cyl. no. 4 Misfire" code.

Not too long ago, I used cheap Autolite plugs to hold me over for a long trip I had to take the next day (still on that trip), planning to replace them when I got home. I believe I used 3423 (if not this, whatever is recommended for the 02 TT 180).

Now that I'm registering this code, I'm thinking that it's
a) the cheap plug
b) the coil pack
c) loose connection to the coil pack
or d) bad connection on the cyl 4 injector.

I can diagnose a,b and c quite easily -- but what of d ? Admittedly, I've had no time to play around and learn this engine better, and I can't return anything that helps me from the search engine.. Is there a fuse or something I can check?

The car is only throwing the P0304 code and I can smell it running rich, so I am inclined to think that the injector is working? I could be wrong, though.

Thanks a lot

It's more than likely the Plug or Coil pack. If you are still running the stock coilpacks, I'd vote coilpack as the most likely candidate. Swap the #3 and #4 coilpacks to see if the problem moves, if it does... coilpack... if not.. most likely plug.

That's what I am thinking more and more... Would it be ill-advised to drive it like this? Once I determine if its electrical, that is? I only need to go perhaps 50 miles, but will this be detrimental?

Extended driving with a misfire will put a lot of too-rich exhuast through your cats and crap them up. Get it fixed ASAP.

I had the same prob on my 1500 when I put new plugs and wires on it, I swaped out a plug (cheepest) and it fixed the problem. Good luck
