P0420 no more :-)
Finally after fighting with this 42dd 3" turbo back exhaust (which yes has a cat) for over a year and a half I got the CEL out...I spent some time with someone nearby who has vagcom and he went through and did a throttle body alignment and some sort of recirculation calibration. Whatever that is but its done i guess. Still had the cel so ordered another brand new bosch o2 sensor. Threw that in with no spacer and it threw the cel again so i had it scanned and the only code it pulled was that stupid cat below efficiency code....
I went into my box of old parts i keep for the car and found the original 42dd o2 sensor spacer which in all honesty is not the greatest of designs imo but i put that in and spent a few hours changing the angle and depth of the threads and testing and retesting and I was finally able to drive 116 miles with 3 cold starts including a forced readiness test and no cel.
Have to say I was surprised to not get other codes for some other crazy stuff that needs months of attention to fix LOL. But I can say that Im happy to have this car with 200k miles original block, tranny, turbo, convert top, and no rust underneath and NOT have a CEL.
Here's to another 200k
