Default Pictures of intakes and MAF welding positions...

I have spare 2.75" aluminum tubing (45 degree and 90 degree bends) and a brand new filter laying around, so I was thinking I should just build my intake.

1. Does anyone have photos of intalled intakes so I can get some ideas?

2. I haven't taken apart the engine bay yet--can some of the rubber elbows/ existing MAF adapter tube be coupled with my aluminum tubes?

3. Is there a specific location that a MAF adapter HAS to be welded to to get a proper reading?

Any help would be awesome.

when you look at your intake, youll see one tube that goes into the maf, and one below it... thats the one that'll need that small filter

Small line is for secondary air. Air gets pumped into your exhaust. Considering that it doesnt actually go thru your engine, I didn't worry as much about filtering it. What I did do, while I still had the secondary air installed, was put a piece of foam over the inlet to the air pump (down near the oil filter). I pulled the airbox to air pump hose right out of the car.

MAF requirements are that it be (after the filter) the first thing the air passes, and that no air can be re-introduced to the intake before it. Consider it like a turnstyle counting people. If someone exits the side door, and comes back thru the turnstyle, your count is off.

Also, technically, you SHOULD have at least 6" of straight tubing before the sensor itself. Shroom filters sorta have a bell mouth built into them, which acts to straighten airflow, which is why you see most of us using a shroom filter with it attached right to the MAF housing.
