yeah i wonder about that piece too. when i took it off (while doing the clutch) it doesnt really seem like it needs to be there if you have a FMIC people say its a structual piece but i dont really see how.

So did you put it back or leave it out?

edit: N/m, Just realized you have a 225 and need it until you go to the FMIC.

Guess I have to ask the techs at work tomorrow.

can you see how much you can get this part for? if your looking at the front, the left inner side wall( infront of tire, behind intercooler) it looks like its slotted, this prevents some heat soak and is a functional piece. i just need that side piece. its in the wheel well. Please and thank you

I think I should add: I thought of a way to redesign the 6x8" fogger rail to work with the stock sidemount. I reshaped it from a 2 dimensional rectangular rail to a 3 dimensional cradle that will spray the sides and front of the core. With a 90 degree CCW turn it should fit and work perfectly now. Also simplified mounting to a couple pieces of wire coat hanger and some metal zip strips.

Got a 2nd opinion on the cross-charge pipe on the 180 and its strutural value today. None.

Which verifies what I thought. This means that its coming out, uneeded weight (a good 15-20lbs).

So from what I gather you feel that the 225 turbo needs the 225 piping and dual intercoolers?

Or something better, yes. Especially when you consider the chances of leaving the boost levels stock. I dont think one small SM intercooler is going to handle the bigger turbo plus elevated boost. I think Audi would agree with me, as thats why the 225 comes with the dual coolers.

I wouldnt say you need to replicate the 225 setup exactly, but you need to match or exceed the efficiency of it.
