popping sound backing out of driveway
So, after much trouble shooting from champion Audi in pompano fl, my front end popping sound has been diagnosed as a lower subframe failure. They have already done my strut mounts and bushings in the front, and replaced the front sway bar trying to fix this problem. My complaint has always been, "car makes a popping sound with the wheel turned backing out of my driveway". Thank god for my warranty
anyone have a picture of the subframe they speak of? And I wonder how it went bad?

subframe = anything that looks like a frame thats bolted under the car, since otherwise, we don't have frames so much, its a unibody design, which is why you'll never see a TT (or pretty much any new-ish car) in this state:

Going bad... thats weird. I slid my car down a guardrail Tony Hawk style, and it's still in one piece. If it was bad, it probably be a cracked weld somewhere. I'd expect your car to frequently need an alignment if that were the case, but who knows. Weird **** happens sometimes.
What we have is more like this, bolted to the body of the car.

I'm just thankful that it's under warranty. I think I'm gonna try to extend it when it's up. I need to find a local shop to do my coilovers for cheap. Things are a little tight right now$. I hope this finaly fixes that fukin noise!
cheapest is to do your coilovers yourself.
The two non standard tools you'll need are spring compressors, and something to pry open the strut mount to get it free from the axle carrier. Spring compressors are cheap (well, cheap ones are, but they'll do), and to pry the carrier open, I ground down a bolt to imitate the real deal. $18 to buy otherwise.

I have a good shop that I trust in Coral Springs. They aren't "cheap" but you'll have no worries about quality work. If interested pm me for link.
dunno about a DIY, its relatively simple and straight forward, I never bothered looking. Main focus is, Wheel off, brake caliper and carrier off, compress spring, unbolt top from strut tower, unclamp bottom from axle carrier, remove. Theres a bunch of little hoses and wires and stuff, but its pretty obvious what needs to be moved/removed to get the job done. Only thing I'd add is that you don't want to let the caliper hang by the brake line. Use some string or something to hang it so the weight isn't on the line.
