Default A question from the new guy

[hr]

Ok soIspent about a month reading post all over the place and decided you guys were the onesI wanted to ask. BsicallyI got one multi part question

I am getting a ECU tune done next week, Decided to go with O.CT because I like the early on and steady torque. I use the car for AutoX and not adaily driver (but still drive it on the street). Oh yea it's a 2000 180 Quattro.

My question is with a tune if I want to run a higher boost and Ido the diode modI can run about 20-21 psi steadywith a MBC (that is part of the the question too) but ifI do will I need (or want) to also add fuel (more air needs more fuel). So can I justrun a 4.0 bar fuel pressure regulator and or one size larger injectors, or is this just not whatI should be doing at all.

If I can or should what is the risk vs reward of the diode mod with the higher boost and more fuel over just the new ECU tune.(not trying to blow up the car here)

I already have a k&N filter, DV, and cat back exhaust on the car along with some suspension stuff done.

Also if I get to sounding like a total retard this is my first turbo so bear with me please. Also any other ideas are welcome.

All the chips are basically the same in performance. But if you get a chip, you dont need a diode. A diode is used to not buy a chip and run higher psi. If you get a chip, you can just runa mbc turn up the boost to 20-22psi and be fine, no fueling changes need to be made.

The diode makes pretty much the same power asa chip and is mainly used for people that dont want to buy a chip for the stock turbo and then have to get rid of it when they buy a bigger turbo. If you plan on sticking with a stock turbo and race it, i would just get a chip. I would also recommend a Revo chip with a sps3 device since you plan on racing so you can adjust boost and timing with the sps3 and then you wont need a mbc anymore.

After this, you should look into having a dp made and free up the more restrictive part of the exhuast and along with a new intercooler since the stock ic heatsoaks easy with the increase in psi.

Thanks for the clarification and I am not PLANNING on going bigger on the turbo unless this one craps out, I just don't see the cost to HP gain as effective to me. I will prob in a few mos look into a water/meth kit and a FMIC with in the next year.

Now with the MBC I can bypass/take out the N75 or is the race tuned N75 much of a differance that i should look into that? because ifIunderstand it correct the N75 just smooths out boost spikes and the race does it faster (so less spike?) but with a "GOOD" MBC I can tune them out completly right?

I'll prob go with the voodoo one you (think it was you) posted about in another thread

On a side note I just go the P1136 CEL codethis morningthink that is the lean bank 1 long term trim code. I did a search and figure it is prob a vac leak and couple of post mentioned the lamda sensor. Ok the noob in me wants to know where is the lamba sensor?

lamda sensors are the o2 sensors. bank one means on the manifold i believe. I would check for vac leaks first before replacing that part. 9 out of 10 it's usually a vac leak.

I've heard of people needing diodes even with software...usually associated with cranked wg boost levels.

Yea I got an H&R 21mm adjustable for the rear.....was my first mod!

I got the ride on a Thurs and took it to my first AutoX on Sat here is a link from that day
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...4941&hl=en

I initially had some slight understeer I put on the Rear sway bar for september (aug was an off month too hot) and had it set to the hardest (what every guy would do) setting was real nice till it broke loose then SNAP oversteer set in (ugly) ever seen a Quattro spin out ... lol. I Dialed it back for october and is VERY NICE now just a gradual oversteer and easily controled but can get out there if you let it.

The new coil over should get here tomarrow [sm=smiley20.gif]
Sending the ECU out on friday while I have the car up on jack stands to put in the new suspension.

OK, after reading this post and hundreds of others I have a few questions:
1) Can I use a Electronic boost controller instead of a Manual Boost controller with a chip.

2) Can I use a boost controller to turn up the boost with a APR Chip

3) If i were to buy a revo http://www.revotechnik.com/products/selectPlus.aspxCould i run a boost controller also so i could change the boost without a computer(pc-laptop...)

4) I am trying to decide on a chip and boost controller...but i Want to beable to adjust the boost in the "cabin"....
