Question for TT owners
wow, that looks really clean without the rear seats, i must say i like the way it looks but my parents want me to have 4 seats so i can drive step-siblings... (they are 5'1 and 4'11'...asians
)
)
Nice car. I'd buy it.
Start out with a lower offer - worst he can say is no.
I'm not sure if we need to change our TB's every 60k or just at 60k. If you need that changed again, I'd insist that he has it done, or knock 500 off the price. You also will need to see when he last changed the oil, when the haldex was done (needs change / filter / 20k).
It has high miles, but the owner put alot of time and effort into the car, so I wouldnt be as leary about it. If anything, you could buy that one and then if you get really ambitious, you could buy another with low miles and swap the mod parts with factory parts and resell the high mile tt for nearly what you paid. He has quite a bit of $$ in mods.
I paid 10 for mine and mine is a 180 q with 75k. I wouldnt have minded a 225 for 14k. However, I saw mine on a lot and just had to have it. Otherwise, I never would have bought it. You are at least on the forums before you purchase yours. :-)

Ummm... 120k is pretty high. The $15,000 price tag is pretty much rediculous. If you can get him down to $11k then you could use the other $4k you get for the lone on repairs....lots an lots of repairs.
if everything he said is true the only things you have left to worry about should be the clutch and the turbo. they both will die and im sure he drove "spirited". i buy and sell alot of cars, and when it comes to modded cars it becomes a preference thing. if you like the wheels alot hre are top dollar so think that you would have spent 3 grand on them at least. plus the supporting mods are some money too. i think 15k is a little high but not too far off. if i personally though the car was really awesome and wouldnt change a thing i would buy it. the problems you will encounter with this car could also happen to one with only 80k on it. clutches go and turbo's blow. the Tb service is a biggie but has been done once, you are nearing it again but any used car you buy will have this problem so i wouldnt factor that into it. if your not technically farmiliar with the TT i would say take it to a independant vw audi shop and have them check it over. use the flaws found as bargaining chips. good luck, i kinda hope you buy it.
raveeydub has a good point... a lot of the value of the car is dependent on the condition it which it rolled off the lot such as the paint and the body...
however, by what i see in the pictures provided the car is in good shape...just one thing, those tips gotta go
