Default Questions about the TT

Well Im thinking of getting anew daily driver for the lady of the household . We were thinking Mini Cooper first then she saw the TT and liked it more. Can you guys tell me if I should be weary of any years/problems/issues with the TT? What do you guys like/dislike about it? Hows the performance. Im assuming the 3.2L version is better?

I know the new model is due out very soon, and im thinking of waiting to see how much the prices will drop. Do you guys think this is a good idea?

Lastly can you guys post up some pics of some modified TT? All colors are welcome because we do not know which color we want yet ... most likely the darker silver though .

TIA

... most likely the darker silver though . -it is the fastest color.

TIA

what is the price range you are looking at? seems like a big price jump from cooper to the new TT right? isn't the new TT in the high 40k range?

The new TT, 2.0T FWD w/primium package is only about $37000. Thats pretty much has most of the upgrades except the magnetic suspension and a couple of Ipod things. I think the new TT has taken alot of the things that tuners found to be bad on the older models and have fixed them and this will be a great car to tune and get really good hp and performance. It has a higher compression so it already has a good start for power and torque. With a chip, full exhuast and CAI the new TT will be at 250 hp.

But the older models are great cars and will last a long time if they maintenance has been up to date. I love my 2002 TT and that is why I am sticking to the TTs and getting the new model. Just make sure you get a car fax to see if the required maintenance was performed and see if the car has replaced the timing belt if it has more than 60k miles or do that right away.

Since its for the lady of the house i doubt that tuning will be occuring... Sure the new TT would be nice, but the 3.2 would probably be best for your lady friend

Now if you go for the 3.2 then you are looking at $41000 or so starting price. They say the new FWD with the S-tronic (which is the only way its coming right now) is great. You can have it manual or sport manual (which allows higher rpms) or use the clutchless shifting. The premium package has the shift padels on the steering wheel too, so it wont feel like a regular manual as the S tronic does it smoother and quicker than a person. Plus they say the suspension is twice as good as the old FWD.

At that point I would think it would be enjoying the performance and not considered tuning.?
