Default quick question, mounting radar detector

Every TT I've seen with a radar detector has used velcro or mounted it in other various places, except the windsheild.
I have owned a beltronics for about a year and figure I'll continue using it since I have it, but I've also seen the warning not to use the suction mounting on some cars, mainly porsche, because the suction cups will mar the windsheild.
Does this go for the TT also? Or is it just coincidence that I haven't seen them window mounted.

Alright so you cannot mount them from the windshield?

I just wanted to make sure before I put it in my car so i didn't destroy it .

I have mine mounted on my windshield, don't really see any problems with the glass, cleans right off.
I have noticed that the range of the detector seems to be longer when you position it lower towards the hood of the car VS the roof of the car IMHO. Don't ask me why im not an expert on radar systems.

Well what beltronics has always recomended is for higher laser ranger you mount the detector lower on the window, for higher radar range, higher on the window, but with the technology they have the range on the detectors are alright so high for radar they recomend to keep it toward the bottom anyways, which I've always done. I just don't want mars on my window, that would suck major [:'(]

I've had mine suction cup-mounted to the windshield for almost a year. No marring at all. Mine works best mounted just under the rear view mirror. I'll pull it and re-mount at least once a week when I rent cars for business travel. I also have a similar setup for my GPS in the windshield corner..no problems at all.
