Default reliable

So im in the market of buying a car and the audi tt is on the top of my list. but ive read bad reviews of the tt being unreliable. so i figured i would come to the ppl who actually know what they're talking about when it comes to their cars. so my question is pretty obvious. i just wanna know how reliable these cars really. i dont want to beone of those people sitting at the dealership every month. and im not entirely useless when it comes to working with cars i know mostly just the basics thanks to past POS cars.

well...... you will pay a bit in repairs from time to time.

as for reliability, any electrical problem i have had the car has fixed itself.
mechanical hasnt been all that bad.
even with some little things the car will still get you from point A to B

check out the stickies at the top of the page such as the FAQ

Let me try and word this correctly: as a daily driver, better to look at a Toyota or Honda if you're not interested in doing the occassional small repair. Chances are it's not going to leave you stranded on the side of the road, however odds are these cars, used, are going to require some maintenance.

^ the infamous "timing belt + water pump @ 60k" should probably one of the main things you should be worried about.

none the less, rule of thumb = jdm cars will give you alot less headache then german cars.

but german cars are baallllliiiin!

I've owned mine for 3-1/2 years now in that time I've changed 1 headlight bulb I've put about 34k miles on it in that time, 14 of the months I'm counting as owning it I was deployed and car sat in a parking lot and started up the second try after getting backbesides regular oil changes and spark plugs the lightbulb was that only non scheduled thing I also drive it like I'm in a road rally everywhere I go so it takes a beating.

if you find a TT that was well taken care of in it's past..then you're golden. Just check for records and overall condition of the car. I was lucky when i bought my TT, as the previous owner always went to the dealer for any work/problems.

Any car can be a pain, whether it's a civic or not. Just check history.
