Replaced cam adjustet gaskets
just got done do this and wow that little bastard was tough to get out and replace...you must remove the valve cover gasket to do this....so already replacing the valve cover gasket i just cleaned the surface under it and applied little beeds of black high temp gasket sealant to make sure. you have to remove a t-30 torx bit on the timing chain to get access to the cam adjuster gasket and rubber half moon gasket. sorry for the NO writeup and pics but i wanted to get done quicker. if anyone experiences oil leaks coming from the right side of their engine try this
well it sucks because i still have a leak...its all do to the VERY VERY poor design of our Valve covers...they are weak and have too many bends and valleys in them. cant figure out why my new cam adjuster seal is still leaking.its in way better condition than old one was but the new half moon gasket looked smaller....its supposed to be the new updated version poly or something. well it blows because although i'm getting very fast at taking my engine apart i hate doing it everytime.....you 180 guys have it a little easier as you dont have to remove as much crap.
need some info on replacing the cam adjuster seal...already did it and it still leaks ...from the half moon rubber piece and the metal gasket....i wanna get all the info i can before doing this for the 3rd time. i replaced my valve cover gaskets and no leaks there just from the two pieces you replace when doing the cam adjuster seal below is a pic of what i replaced.
should i use a little high temp gasket sealant on these?> audi told me no they dont use it.
