I have an '01 225hp roadster and have noticed that the rpm's jump up and down a bit from about 7-1200 on start up for just a second. Is this normal?
Also - what rpmshould these cars idle at. It's all stock... for now anyway.

~1200 with a cold start
~800 with a warm car

Mine started to jump around before my maf died. Just a heads up. If it gets worse, unplug the maf and if it runs far better, you have a bad maf. Im not saying you have one or go buy one, just that you may heading in that direction.

 

Stupid question of the day...what's a maf? I'm not very mechanically inclined - I want to say something about mass airflow sensor?

any idea on price in case it is bad?

 

about $130 at ecstuning. Som have found it at NAPA and autozone also. There is a thread i started where i found someplace that just sells the sensor, it says it is compatiable with several maf's and is $90. Should be on page 2 or 3 now.
