Default Service! and Traction lights

So, the DID says "SERVICE!" upon start-up and now the traction control light will not go out. Pulled some fuses, all good. Disconnected the battery. Dumb. Now I finally have all the radio and clock junk reset but no luck on the error.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

service is just your reminder to go to the dealer. oil change or something.

the traction light is another story. maybe the car thinks the maf is unplugged. maybe an abs sensor or something thats out. get the car scanned for any stored codes.

Okay. Got it!

To reset service display:

Put key in ignition.
Hold down right cluster button
Turn ignition to on
Release right cluster button
Hold down left cluster button

But I still have the other warning light on. Any help would be appreciated.

The traction light staying on is usually a wheel speed sensor or brake light switch problem.
Check your speed sensors for any frayed wires.
If you have access to a VAG COM you can monitor your brake light switch on data block 2 in the brake electronics module and watch each detent engage as you press the brake pedal. The top one should engage first then the lower one. If its reversed the brake light switch is f****d up.

yeah mine was doing the same. all i did was disconnect the MAF and reconnect. after doing that it went away. it must have been loose or something.
