should I buy?
well I have been looking for my own 2000 audi TT for awhile, and I found one in my price range, but this is the problem. I am located in Lancaster pa and the audi is located in Henderson nv. I was going to get it sent to me by carmives.com but the price that far away is 1,495$ and I talked to the lady that wants to sell me the car and she said fly down and drive it back, what do you think I should do?
Either find someone willing to take a road trip, and drive out, then drive the car back, or fly out, and drive the car back.
Problem is, while the car may look great in photos, it may not be so nice in person. After driving/flying that many miles, theres a good chance you'll buy it even if you're not totally happy with it, only because you just spent all that time/money getting there.
I probably should have passed on my current TT. I had a friend drive me from upstate NY to Reading PA, in an ice storm. Couldn't see the paint with all the ice on it, couldn't really test drive it with all the ice on the roads, and didn't really wanna drive home only to have to drive down again on a nicer day. All businesses were shut down, I couldn't take care of the paperwork that day even if I did decide on the spot that I wanted the car.
My friend had to get back to NY that night, and I put myself up in a hotel for the night with the options of buying the car the next day, or taking a long and expensive taxi ride home, carless.
So, if you really want THAT car, I'd suggest flying out. Otherwise, theres always cars going up for sale, just have to stay on craigslist/autotrader/cars.com and keep an eye out.

I was in your boat a while ago too. It was going to be $500 to have car shipped to me and they said it would take 7-31 days to be delivered. I got a $150 plane ticket and went out there.. if i didnt like it then i wasn't committed and i could get another ticket home.. or if you do like it, drive it home !
I found my TT on eBay, but I didn't buy it on eBay. The auction ended with nobody meeting the reserve. After I spent an hour on the phone ith the seller, I drove 4 hours in a rental, checked the car out (it was as good as it was represented on eBay, if not better) and drove my new car home to Michigan.
If the car is accurately described, and is a good deal, small things like paint chips/scratches or minor interior damage can be easily dealt with.
Point being if you're pretty sure it's the car you want, the trip out and back will be fun. A companion will make it much better, (also having the luxury of a $ cushion in case you run into problems) it will make the experience of having a TT that much better... you'll start your ownership with a story. We all know road trips have stories. What will yours be?

Every area has items that damage cars. Out there it is the heat. That hot sun can cause a lot of damage to the interior as well as the paint, etc. I would look into things like that, as well as mechanical specifics before buying a car so far away.
Just make sure about the vehicle. Make sure you check everything out. Flying, driving isn't shouldn't be the concern. If like the car. Buy it lol. Good deals do come everyday, but then again, the best deals really don't. Hell, I've drove from Ohio all the way to louisiana to buy a VW ...20 hours down...20 hours back...lol
