Hey DurTTy what did you use for a filter for your other smaller line? I created my own filter out of this really dense foam material I had.

i went to local store and got a breather. Partsource ?? i think you guys in the usa get autozone ? not sure the name. but look for a breather or if you want you can use a microphone foam cover. but if you got some foam over your breather i think its fine. i drove mine with nothing over it .. nothing happened.

you can see a piece of the breather in the pic.. its red in color.

So, what exactly is the difference between $60 Greddy vs $150 HKS? Is the HKS worth the extra 90 bucks? I'm about to get one of these and this would tip the scale...

I paid $60 + shipping for my HKS shroom kit on ebay...Seems to me the HKS is better since it comes with mounting hardware.

it all comes down to the make. they both get the job done. the diff. in performance between the 2 are really too slim to compare. but quality wise, HKS. bang for buck? Greddy/Trust.

that's test seems pretty crazy. but ofcourse it's an extreme... In the end I don't think you're expected to drive through carbon dust everyday and the filters would do a good enough job for daily driving... unless you drive your car inside a coal mine.

This test was done in 1999, and was done on the first generation of HKS filters. HKS is now on the second generation, now called Super Mega Flow, which have some particular advances from the 1st generation including:

- Filter cage allows for 30% more intake surface area
- Aluminum back plate for added strength
- Sealing ring reduces contaminants from entering engine
- 3 Layer, triple density dry filter element

Main difference is that the 2nd genration is DRY and no longer WET

Anyone want to comment on these please! They seem to look the same but for a lot cheaper.
