Progress has stopped for now, fiberglass and cold don't mix. Someday I'll have the garage heated again....

I'll get back on it in the spring, and let you know if i get anywhere with it.

 

The whole fiberglass thing crossed my mind but the durability aspect seems as iffy as the stock plastic. So how many layers of fiberglass do you plan on making it out of? Also do you plan on using fleece or anything else to help strength the plate?

 

Just fiberglass cloth, and i figured i'd build it up until I was comfortable with its strength. I wasn't intending on building some sort of super-skidplate, just a low cost version of the stock one.
