I googled it but I haven't seen a very good picture. In an emergency situation though could a nearly full sized person sit back there? I know there would be like no comfort but is it physically possible?

Yes it is but they will hate you after riding back there.
Once i had two people in the back of my TT both where over 5 foot 7.
it was mess i was so close to the stearing wheel i could clutch very well. not the safest thing on earth.
If it's just one person in the back i tell them to take there shoes off and sit with there feed on the over seat crossways it works a bit better.
The audi book i think said no one over 4 foot in the back seat.

it says in the manual that you have to be 4'11 or under to safely/confortably sit in the back seats

actually, its too small to fit some baby seats. A booster seat would work, but not a babys car seat. I tried to take my friend and his son for a ride, couldn't do it with the kids seat.
The 4'11" thing is because you could squash someones spine if you closed the hatch while they were sitting upright in the back seat.
The car will fit a driver and 4 college girls comfortably though, well, at least I was comfortable..... : )

RE: So how small is the back seat?
Yeah in an emergency situation you can get someone back there...Every now and then one of my buddies has to get back there...He is 6' tall and he hates it, but if its a quick ride somewhere, it works.

my wife is going to kill me. I just bought an 00 Quattro 1.8, and told her that it has a backseat, so we can put a carseat in it for our 1 month old baby girl...haha...uh oh.
