plenty of 1.8t guys run them. Its a good setup for thost wanting a stock or smaller catback to be quiet and then open dump when they want it. Im still a little disappointed that atp stop selling the VES.

mechanical wont fail like the electronics can with heat.

I guess they had a hard time getting parts for it since they havent been on sale in about 2 years now. But it would be nice to have a dump that would open at 5psi (or you can have a mbc to open it later) and still have a nice 2.5" catback which would be great while driving and off boost.

Did you get a electronic one or the one with 3 wing nuts?

If you run one, you may want to consider heat wrapping the exhaust around it to help keep the heat away from the motor on the bypass. Have heard many die prematurely just from taking heat daily

The exhaust maybe 12-18" in both directions of the cutout. Should keep the heat down around it enough to make the motor last. Mr Gasket makes one with a latch you just pull, only downside is its only 2.25"

i could always just go to an exhaust shop and ask them to heat wrap it... ill probably just have them install the cut out as well, minus the wiring, still dont know what im going to do about that or where im going to put the switch

There ya go. Video of 1.8t w/ electronic cutout. After seeing this, I decided it is the route I'm going so that I can retain my stock exhaust and be able to open up to 3 inch open exhaust whenever some ricer feels the need to prove his manhood to his obese girlfriend. At least that's how it is here in Alabama.
