Stereo removal.. gahhh!
Hey guys, no matter which tools I try, there is something wrong with the pins/springs whatever on my 01 bose concert radio. it just wont release. I can hear the click on the one side, but not the other.
I have tried and tried but nothing works.
At this point what are my options?

There are 2 slots on the bottom part of your radio. One on the left other is on the right.. If you carefully look into those slots, on the outer edge you will see the metal locking mechanism. If you don't see it then you have a problem.. Either way, you stated you hear the click. That's a good sign, once u get both slots to click. You should be able to wigtgle the radio out. I had to use the help of a very flat screw driver to wedge mines out.
Your other option is to completely remove the console where the radio sits and then proceed to remove the radio. There's alot more work involved in that.

Thanks. The one side clicks for sure. the other side.. no dice.. so I am pretty much screwed....
Whats involved in removing the entire radio section. I started at it today but after removing everything I could see the thing dident even want to budge.. so I have no clue..

I just dont want to gouge the crap out of the plastic stereo surround..
On the side that clicks. Try using a screwdriver on that side of the radio. Basically you want to be able to get a wide enough gap between the radio and console. Remember not to let the radio slide back in as that can happen. Once you have that side out abit, use your radio removal tool on the other side. Shimmy the radio left to right or right to left (whatever you like =)). You only need to get about half n inch on both sides then you should be able to pull the radio out. Also keep in mind there will be resistance as you pull the radio out. Nothing to be alarmed about, cause that radio sits in there pretty tight.
Edited: Curious, are you buying a store bought radio removal key? Or did you make one? I made my own key using the tool to loosen bolts on a power tool. Like the ones from circular saw etc. I grinded the end down to a 45 degree angle. And since it was a little wide and thick, I grinded that down as well. That way when I stuck it into the slot it wasn't a tight fit giving me room to move the tool around.
Edited: You really don't even need to hear a clicking sound. If that is what you are waiting for.

I actually took it to a local stereo shop and tried in the parking lot as NO ONE sells the damned keys around here (foolish me I never ordered any when buying my DICE online).
After that I also attempted to make my own with a credit card.
Either way the non working side does not click, nore does the key grab onto anything, it simply slides in and out... so I am not sure how this is going to work.
I can get the working side out maybe.. a cm at most, but there is absolutly no play left and right..

had the same problem just pulled the one side as hard as i could and pulled outward too. i never heard the one side click but it came out. my finger hurt like crazy cus the tool isn't too thick. just keep trying lol
Ill give that a try, but even the side that clicks in dosent exactly hold that great... a medium amount of force will make it come out...
but even with no tools in there at all the one side (the one that clicks) allows me to pull the radio out a cm or so.. So I am guessing the 1 pin is stuck open.. the other one is stuck closed..
It sucks hard. I tried a pair of needle noses on the top edge (grabbing the top of the deck top and putting the other half of the pliers into the tape door)... pulled hard, plastic started to bend on deck plate so I gave up.
Shes wedged in there hard boys..
