Default Stock DV / Chirping Sound

Okay,
Over the weekend I cleaned my MAF and replaced my Air Filter with a K&N 33-2128.

This morning on my way to the office, I was at a stop light. When I tapped the gas, I heard my DV make a little chirping sound. Is this normal (as I've never heard it before) or can this be a sign that my DV is on it's way out the door?

Thanks

Is the filter you added a cone filter? If yes, it is normal. The sound of the dv dying is it sounds like a goose honking.

It is not a cone filter.

Just the drop in.

From the code munkee provided it is not a cone filter. He just replaced the stock filter with a K&N one within the stock air box.

I guess a bit more air will flow in but not that much to hear the DV since the stock air box sound proofs the sound of the dv.

With a K&N 57-0477 for an 180 and a K&N 57-0479 for a 225 which are cone filters (induction kits effectively) you would hear the air going into the engine, the turbo and the dv a lot more!

GreekTT:

I can hear the air going into my engine and the DV (psssh) sound A LOT more... it's like day & night vs. the stock filter.

Take the lid off the air box. If it sounds like a bov, its fine, if it honks, its bad. But the filter should increase the sound some (even with a drop in)

That's interesting. Initially I wanted to get that sound so I went for the K&N 57-0479 induction kit which it does sound great! The filter that you have put is a lot cheaper but have never tried it cause I thought it wouldn't make that difference in sound since the stock air box sound proofs pretty much everything

Maybe someone who has fitted the same filter as yours can tell us more.

You just need to drill a few holes in the bottom of the airbox. It will allow more air into the box and sound out

Ohh yeah... I remember you (cincyTT) telling me to drill my airbox... hehehe... and as a noobie i told you that I don't wanna drill anything since I have no idea about engines

Btw I finally bought and installed the induction kit (as you probably understood from my previous post and everything was fine. Along with the kit though and the big cone there was a small one as well. I followed the installation instructions but there was no small auxiliary air pump feed pipe connected to my airbox. Anyway... I am left with a small filter the size of a shot (drink shot ) but I guess I ll live

So i guess you guys dont have simular emissions so you dont need the SAI to reduce smog.
