Summer Performance vs All Season Tires
I live on Long Island (NY metro area) and just bought a 2010 Audi TT coupe. The car of course comes with quattro which I wanted for the secure handling in the winter. I asked the salesperson if the car had all season tires on it, to which she said yes. The window sticker was not on the car. After the purchase she placed the window sticker in the back seat. When I arrived home and examined it, it indicated that the car was equipped with summer performance tires instead. (Pirelli P Zero Rosso)
Will this be a problem in the winter? They do a pretty good job out here at clearing the major roads pretty quickly. Should I go back to the dealer? What could they do for me? What are my options? Is this not a big deal?
I would appreciate any feedback

Summer tires are softer than all seasons and way softer than winter tires. So when its cold, they are very hard. Add that to the lack of sipes (cutting edge channels) for bitting into snow, you will have little to no traction when there is more than a dusting on the road and will struggle to get anywhere. If you want to avoid putting your new car into a ditch or worse, when winter comes around, buy a set of cheap wheels with either good all seasons or winter tires.
I would doubt you will see any more snow this year. At most some freezing rain. If the tires on there now are basically new, keep them. When its starts to get cold again, find some steelies or cheap brand wheels to put some all season or winter tires on. If you put on the smallest wheel that will clear your stock brakes (not sure if 16's will clear stock MKII brakes), the cheaper the tire will be
They are definitely a performance tire. Living in South Florida I can't help with feedback on winter driving however they are garbage in the wet, so I can't imagine them being too good for winter driving.
My suggestion would be to just keep them because they aren't going to last very long as they also have a tendency to wear out quickly.
I did check the tires are the P Zero Pirellis. I called the salesperson; she claimed they were pretty busy today and she would speak to the manager and get back to me today or Monday. Didn't hear from her today. I have to FedEx them the Title from my Acura trade-in. Could I use this as leverage in getting them to put all seasons on the car?

And no, I dont think you can use holding your title as hostage... however, you have 3 days to get out of any contract, and that includes for buying a car.. THAT you could use.
