Default Suspension failure in TT

I have a 2000 TT that I bought used in late 2001. Overall, a great, fun car and no huge trouble. Last month, while driving slowly (10-12 mph tops) over a 2" speed bump in a gated neighborhood, I heard a crunch then a periodic rubbing sound. I stopped, got out and my rear passenger wheel was canted in 20 degrees or so at the top. The Upper Track Control Arm had snapped. Had it replaced for $428, but felt lucky it hadn't happened at highway speed. The tech checked the other struts and said they seemed fine. A fluke, right?

Last night, backing 20' out of a neighbor's driveway, I thought I'd driven over a chunk of ice (another crunch sound), but 100 yards away, the rear of the car started to wobble at 15 mph. I limped at 5 mph into my driveway, got out and saw the same wheel in the same position as the earlier failure. This time it appears to be the LOWER Track Control Arm! While I'm again glad this didn't happen at highway speed, now I'm irked.

Searching the web this (Sunday) morning, I've seen a posting alluding that there was a recall on these items in early 2001, but no way to verify until the dealer is open tomorrow.

Anyone have similar experiences, or know anything about a factory recall on Control Arms?

That sucks! If they are rears, I would try and go adjustable. Unless Audi is willing to pay for it.
