thanks for that, I did search after search and couldn't find the stupid thing. I found itbefore but it disappeared i swear!

achttung, where would you brace the engine on the oil pan? I thought it was bad to brace anything on the oil pan (risk of crush)? What did you use to brace it with?

I'm fairly mechanically inclined, the thing I worry about most is having the right tools for thejob. I already have the $269 kit from ecs on the way!

Thanks to all!!

Well hopefully there wouldn't be any damage to the crank shaft!

any clue on how much a rebuild would cost at the dealership?
i'm very mechanically inclined, but somewhat afraid due to the high cost of repair if i fudge something up. Military mech totally different from civ mech.
aside from tb jods whats the next worst thing the car can cough up?
clutch and new flywheel had been done about 500m ago from the stealership.
thanks all, although no one has given me a glimpse of hope as to whether or not my valves are shot. it died while it was idling at home while testing the boost gauge.

There's no way to tell online. You'd have to take the head apart and inspect the damages.
If I recall correctly someone had their timing belt fail and repaired by the dealer... I think the cost was in the $3000 range.
Not 100% sure, please don't quote me.

omfg, i hope not........
for that much i can go with ecs tuning belt kit with under drive pulleys, fmic, revo chip and new shoes for the car.
there's so much i can do for 3g's
not much hope still holding on, please someone give a glimpse of hope here, 1g top for repairs and partsi can live with.
having second thought if i made a good choice in getting the car. it was a toss between an 86 944t and 01 awd tt.
please tell me i made a good choice.

Looking at that diy... is it really necessary to have the engine at tdc as long as the belt was installed exactly the same way?

Pretty much. Aslong as you mark everything. But it is easier to find TDC as oppossed to where you left it

Ya i figured that step would be in case anything got turned accidentally... it would be easy to put it back right.
