Default timing belt change advice for a DIY job?

haven't done this before on audi, bought the bently book and the kit with tensioner and water pump. car is a 2001 225 hp manaul with 130k miles.

I am really excited to give it a try. it's not my normal transportation so I can take my time.

Any tricks or links that I could use?

I'm replaing because it's time, and it may have jumped a tooth. car is running rough and everything else checks OK (I think.) either way, it has to be done.

take lots of pictures. they will help you put it back together.

we used 2 floor jacks to raise / lower the engine. that also helped.

Too tricky for me. Maybe with some help from some friends. Otherwise I will take it to the Southside VW dealer. They are doing it for $375.00 labor and I bring them the parts.

That labor rate is actually not bad. If you do it yourself the first time it could be a 10 hour job. A shop probably 6 hours. Just over $60 an hour for a dealer is a good deal.Make sure you get the updated water pump!

Bah, it won't even take the dealer an hour to do the T belt job, i say do it yourself!
The first time i did one (with power tools) it took me 4 hours.
After doing about5 of them, i got it down to 45 minutes.
