I ordered the TB kit from ECS last Tuesday. It got her today and was going to have the work done on Sunday.. Well Saturday night the TB broke =(, Hopefully there isn't damage to the valve since I was only going 40 when I felt the car die.

Edited: Question... I have 104k miles and was never part of the original lawsuit. Since my TB broke b4 the 105k, will audi re-imburse me for damages and cost?

oh there is going to be some damage. might i also recommend replacing the cam gear also. if you look close you might have a hair line crack where its key way is to lock onto the cam itsself. ive had that gear break before.

there are people IN the class action suit who are having trouble getting money, I highly doubt you'd have any better luck.

Thats really shitty luck though. Who knows, maybe you'll find another head for cheap somewhere for a change of good luck.

i think he was referring to an alternative of taking yours off and having it rebuilt to replace the bent valves and guides through TB failure, its easier to whip one off and put a complete one on than it is to take one off, strip it, chemically clean it, rebuild it and have it skimmed then refit etc...

Any ideas where I would get a new head from and what is the cost? Replacing the TB and changing the valves will be a DIY thing. Well not myself personally will do it, have a family member who is going to do the work. Not going to go to a shop and have them rip me a new one.

Exactly. And of course it is cheaper to order the parts and have it done somewhere else but then you dont get the warranty from Audi. So Ill take my chances for now, if it goes sooner rather than later it will just give me a good excuse to do some more engine work, maybe a 2.0T or a 3.2vr6

Well took apart the car to do the TB. As it appears the TB didn't break, it just lost like 16 teeths in a row. Gonna finish the TB job 2 morrow, just hoping valves aren't bent.

Personally I think Audi technicians are currently telling everyone to replace their timing belts to absolve themselves of liability if it breaks do to the recent lawsuit. It's what some call a cya (cover your ***) repair.
