Default timing belt inspection went well on my tt

well. i was surprised today.went to the dealer to get my tt timing belt inspected to comply with the warranty campaign. i figured they would tell me the belt needed to be replaced so audi could cover itself.
they said the belt was fine and i was in the clear . said the belt won't be inspected till 80k.at that service interval.it has 53k on it now.
said if the belt breaks between now & then audi would cover it all.
thought you all in the same situation might want to know.

the only downfall i see in this is that after the 80k mile mark and you still have the original timing belt

you're in the danger zone! i'd get it replaced within the 75-80k mile period

What if I have not received an inspection notice, should I be contacting a dealer or Audi?

That's the way I see it too. The dealer will always tell you it's fine until it fails. When it fails will they cover all the ancillary parts that become damaged? What about warranty on cars with mods? Good thing by having it checked, you're meeting their warranty requirements.

well. according to audi. as long as the dealer tells me it's ok at the inspections they will pay for any damage it causes if it breaks up to 105k.of course it would be a hassle if it breaks and i could be left stranded.what i will have to decide is if i want to pay for a belt job to avoid the hassle.

according to audi they will cover damage if it breaks as long as it looks good at the inspections up to 105k

I would ask if they'll cover the damage caused by the tensioner or wp impeller breaking which is the underlying cause of these failures...etc.

my dealer said my mods do not affect the timing belt, and will not void the warranty (he also said if it DID void the warranty, they would let me know ASAP)

I have yet to get mine inspected, because I do expect to hear that it needs changed. I'm at 46,000 but it's an '03

That doesn't make sense. Dealer double speak.
