Default Timing Belt for my TT.. How much?

2000 Audi TT FWD 180 Hp.... How much would a person or a shop charge for labor on a timing belt, water pump, tensioner, and tensioner pulley? I am just wondering... If you know how much with just labor that would be great.. Like for example, I brought all the parts that are needed and how much would that person or shop charge me? I live near DFW Texas

DFW Audi in Euless quoted $1400 for belt pump and tensioner. Import Car Center in Grapevine quoted $1300. Boardwalk quoted $1600. I'm going to go with DFW Audi because they have always been helpful when i have questions over the phone one guy even e-mailed me a diagram of the vacuum hose parts. I dont really like the service manager at Import Car Center. He can never give me a direct answer. they changed my oil and haladex fluid good price but it took all day to get my car back and they almost tried to keep it over night.

If you used the ECS kit or the dieselgeek kit, it'll cost you about $250 in parts. The rest breaks down to labor.

Find some locals who are willing to help you for beer/food (key: help you, not do it for you), and you can knock it out over a weekend. Then you'll know what you're doing, and next time you need to do it it'll only cost you parts since you're the labor.

I've seen people quote anywhere from $800-$1800. All depends on the shop and where you're from.

$1800 IS insanely high. But so is $7 for a turn signal bulb, but Audi will still charge that much.

I personally paid $824.00 and that was at a dealer. I had the belt, tensioner, and water pump replaced and they even threw in a free oil change. You guys paying $1400 are getting seriously hosed. I recommend if the dealer is screwing you (which is becoming more and more common as they are struggling to sell new cars with the sagging economy, they must make up the income some how, CNBC had a recent report on this)

I would go to a local shop and they should not charge you more than about 7 hours of labor which should leave you with labor and parts at under a grand. $1000 is the absolute maximum you should pay for this job. If you get it done at a local shop just make sure they will warranty the work. Most shops will only warranty the work if they source the parts. This is a basic liability issue.

If you have the time and skills to DIY this repair is really cheap. I did it myself on previous cars (I make more now and can afford to pay someone to do the larger jobs) and it is generally not to difficult just very time consuming and requiring a large amount of attention to detail.

I wanted to know the same thing. I was going to call up the audi dealer to see what they charge for parts, and if it's more, then i'll buy the dieselgeek bundle and bring it to the dealer. I feel like dieselgeek package is more complete than what the dealer will use, but that's just my opinion.

Does anyone know what labor alone will cost??
