Default tire wear

I have a 2001 tt coupe quatro, with 72k. i have about 10K on a new set of tires. the right rear shows a lot of wear. the wear is even, not on the inside or outside edge. none of the other tires show any (or very very little). i obviously need an alignment. can i replace the right rear only or do i have to replace all four?

first of all what car do u have and is it all-wheel drive? when changing tires on all wheel drive cars you have to replace all 4 at the same time! other wise you'll have problems later

are u talking about replacing the 1 tire? if so then i'd say your alright as long as the tire is the same as the others (i mean brand, diameter, and wear)

You can replace just one tire as long as it's the same diameter as the other tires. Get an average reading of the tread depth from the other 3 tires, and then order your new tire from tirerack.com

Tirerack can shave a tire to match the remaining tread depth, so you'll be good.

Audi - As published in their vehicle owner's manual, "rolling radius of all 4 tires must remain the same" or within 4/32-inch of each other in remaining tread depth.

So let them know what you need, and they'll do it for somewhere around $25-35

thank you, achTTung. does it sound like an alignment problem? Again, the tire is not worn on one edge or the other, just generally worn.

check your tire pressure in all of the tires, also check for a possible leak or crack in the wheel
